This article explains where your business can pay with its Vav card and what to know before you use it.

Before you start

  • Your business’s Vav card is a virtual Visa card. You pay by typing the card number, expiry date and CVV into a payment form — there is no plastic to tap or swipe.
  • The card balance is in US dollars.

Steps

  1. Reveal your card details with Show details (see View your card number, expiry and CVV).
  2. Enter the card number, expiry date and CVV in the merchant’s payment form.
  3. If the form asks for a billing address, use exactly the billing address shown with your card details. It comes from the account’s identity verification and cannot be changed in the app.

What happens next

  • The purchase appears in the card’s Card taps list with the merchant name, and your card balance goes down.
  • Purchases in other currencies are converted to US dollars by the card network.

Fees and limits for this action

  • Vav does not charge a fee per purchase.
  • The daily limit you set for the card applies, if you set one. See Set a daily spending limit.

Troubleshooting

  • The merchant rejects the card. Check the details were typed exactly, including the billing address. If it still fails, see Why was my card declined?.
  • The merchant only accepts local cards. Some merchants restrict foreign-issued cards. That decision is the merchant’s — try another merchant.

FAQs

Can I use the card in a physical shop? Only where you can pay by typing card details (for example, phone or online orders). There is no physical card, and Apple Pay / Google Pay are not available from the Vav app today.

Which card network is the card on? Visa.

Can I withdraw cash at an ATM? No. The card is virtual and has no cash withdrawal feature.

Can I use the card for subscriptions? Yes — for example the software and online services your business pays for every month. Keep enough balance on the card and the charges will go through. Freezing or closing the card stops subscription charges.

My delivery address is different from my billing address. Is that a problem? Usually not. Delivery address and billing address are separate fields in most checkouts. Just make sure the billing address matches the one on your card.
